Cracking the PM2.5 Code

Abstract

Air pollution, particularly PM2.5, is a major environmental and public health concern in Bangkok. Instead of predicting PM2.5 levels, this project aims to identify the most significant factors influencing PM2.5 concentration. By analyzing historical air quality, weather, and other environmental data, we will determine which variables—such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, or other pollutants—have the greatest impact on PM2.5 fluctuations.

Objective

PM2.5 pollution is a serious issue in Bangkok, causing respiratory diseases, heart conditions, and reduced air quality. Identifying the most critical factors contributing to PM2.5 can help in creating solutions to improve public health.

Designed Quality coffee from fermentation

Coffee is a critical agricultural commodity to be used to produce a premium beverage to serve people worldwide. Coffee microbiome turned to be an essential tool to improve the bean quality through the natural fermentation. Therefore, understanding the microbial diversities could create the final product's better quality. This study investigated the natural microbial consortium during the wet process fermentation of coffee onsite in Thailand to characterize the microorganisms involved in correlation toward the biochemical characteristics and metabolic attributes. Roasting is another important step in developing the complex flavor/ aroma that make coffee to be enjoyable. During the roasting process, the beans undergo many complex and alternatively change in the physicochemical properties from the gained substances in the fermentation process. The changing in the formation of the substances responsible for the sensory qualities, physicochemical/ aroma attributes as well as the health benefits of the final product. Using the starter culture could also develop the distinguished characteristics of coffee (Research collaboration with Van Hart company)

The project "30 Days Harvest" is inspired by the significant role agriculture plays in human society, particularly in providing food for consumption. However, farmers often face numerous challenges arising from environmental issues. The developers chose to highlight these problems through the creation of 30 Days Harvest, aiming to raise awareness among players about the impacts that farmers must endure, while still ensuring the game is enjoyable. The game also offers players the opportunity to think critically and devise strategies to deal with various challenges on their own. When the game starts, players take on the role of a farmer who must manage their farm to harvest the highest yield possible. The produce can be used to prepare meals or sold to customers within a limited timeframe. The goal of the game focuses on maximizing profits, which requires careful planning and analysis to overcome environmental obstacles. Additionally, players must ensure that their agricultural production is sufficient for food preparation. Along the way, they will also learn about the environmental impacts affecting agriculture.

Distributed Control System for Boiler in Sugar Plants

This cooperative education report presents a project for developing a Distributed Control System (DCS) for boilers in a sugar factory. The objective is to enhance the control system for boilers 1-8 to operate cohesively within the DCS framework provided by ABB, utilizing the ABB Ability™ System 800xA software. The overall functionality of the system involves creating a control program that begins with the utilization of bagasse, a byproduct from the sugar extraction process, as fuel for the boiler. The program manages various operations of the boiler, including the intake of air into the combustion chamber, the internal functioning of the boiler, and the treatment of flue gases before their release into the atmosphere. The project encompasses the development of the DCS program, the design and creation of HMI display graphics, the study and design of the boiler control system, the documentation of the project, and the control processes utilizing the ABB Ability™ System 800xA software, culminating in the operational outcomes.
