Development of Smart Drainage Flooring Materials from Industrial Slag Waste for Flood Solution

Abstract

This research develops drainage flooring materials using steel slag industrial waste as the primary raw material, combined with Fly Ash and HPMC to enhance structural strength and water permeability, guided by the Waste-to-Wealth concept. The innovation simultaneously addresses urban flooding and industrial waste management challenges. The resulting paving blocks meet ASTM C1701 infiltration standards and are suitable for public walkways, pedestrian paths, and parking areas. The project aims to produce exhibition-ready prototypes for KMITL Innovation EXPO 2026 with strong potential for further commercial development.

กรุงเทพมหานครถูกจัดให้เป็น "เมืองที่กำลังจม" โดย IPCC เนื่องจากปัญหาระบบระบายน้ำไม่เพียงพอ การทรุดตัวของพื้นดิน และการลดลงของพื้นที่ซึมน้ำจากการขยายตัวของเมือง ในขณะเดียวกัน อุตสาหกรรมเหล็กและเหล็กกล้าของไทยผลิตตะกรัน (Steel Slag) เป็นของเสียกว่า 400,000–750,000 ตันต่อปี แต่มีอัตราการใช้ประโยชน์เพียง 20% ซึ่งต่ำกว่าประเทศพัฒนาแล้วมาก โครงการนี้จึงนำแนวคิด Waste-to-Wealth มาพัฒนาวัสดุปูพื้นระบายน้ำจากตะกรันเหลือทิ้ง เพื่อแก้ปัญหาน้ำท่วมขัง ลดของเสียอุตสาหกรรม และสนับสนุนเศรษฐกิจหมุนเวียน (Circular Economy) สอดคล้องกับเป้าหมาย SDGs และยุทธศาสตร์ไทย 4.0

Automated Hydroponic System for Home Use

An automated hydroponic system for household use has been developed to cater to individuals with limited space who wish to conveniently and easily grow their own salad greens at home. This system is designed to automatically control nutrient delivery by setting appropriate electrical conductivity (EC) and pH levels tailored to the specific salad greens being grown. It includes artificial lighting to enable cultivation in confined spaces with insufficient sunlight and is more cost-effective than similar systems available on the market. System testing revealed that the automated control of EC and pH values performed effectively, achieving the preset levels within 30 minutes and maintaining them consistently throughout operation. In an experiment growing green oak lettuce using a simulated balcony setup, the plants demonstrated a higher growth rate compared to conventional methods, particularly when artificial lighting was used.

INTELLIGENT ANTI – ROBBERY POLICE SYSTEM IN CHACHOENGSAO

The project uses artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning to develop a smart police system (Smart Police) to analyze the identity of individuals and vehicles suspected of involvement in crimes. The system uses CCTV cameras to detect people with concealed weapons and track vehicles involved in crimes. The system also sends alerts to the police when a crime is detected. The Smart Police system is a collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, the Provincial Police Region 2, the Chachoengsao Foundation for Development, and the Smart City Office of Chachoengsao Province. The system is designed to prevent and deter crime, increase public safety and order, and build a network of cooperation between the government, the private sector, and the community. The system is currently under development, but it has the potential to be a valuable tool for law enforcement. The system could help to reduce crime and improve public safety in Chachoengsao Province and other parts of Thailand.
